Who cares what your morale is like in basic. If you feel at home or morale is high then you aren’t tearing down and then building up as has been done forever. People are going to complete basic weighing more than when they started and be medboarded because of video game thumb....soft does not equal effective.

Discipline was the factor I feel that brought a bunch of street corner punks,hayseed farm boys and assorted no accounts to withstand a combat tour in Vietnam back in 1966 ,from my point of view anyway,and according to my training NCOs in Basic we had it soft!

I’m sure even cadre that trained Roman Legionnaires said the same thing. This back in my day mentality accomplishes nothing.
