*UPDATE* TO ORIGINAL POST:
I hope this update helps a Soldier that may face similar circumstances. I went IRR on the advice of others that did the same thing. Any component can pull you out of the IRR the next day. That is a way to get you where you are trying to go. In my case, I was in the Army Reserve with a full Warrant Officer Candidate packet and being told I wasn't going to be released to the National Guard to pursue my Warrant Officer aspirations. I went IRR, then the National Guard pulled me from IRR and *BOOM* I was in the National Guard.
The Guard approved my WOCS packet, I completed WOCS and WOBC and am currently a CW2 in the Alabama Army National Guard. It was a hard road uphill, but as my Father taught me, "If it is worth having, it is worth working for".
Having reachback to other Soldiers that are knowledgeable and wise about matters in a forum such as RallyPoint is invaluable. Thanks to everyone that devoted time to respond and encourage. And to all that read this post - Use the tools that are out there, reach out, listen to others that have gone before you. And READ the regulations, TMs, etc. I have found tremendous nuggets in reading random Army regulations and such!! Knowledge is at your fingertips, so take advantage of it!!!

i am surprised that G-1 did not approve your age waiver, I thought the need for Warrants were pretty high.

I know two people in a similar situation who called their congressmen. I hope you can resolve your situation before it gets to that step
