I had a student loan repayment addendum as part of my initial enlistment as an enlisted soldier into the Army Reserves. My initial contract was a 6x2 and I completed the 6 year requirement. Just recently, I commissioned as a 70B 2LT and I was wondering if I would still be eligible to receive my student loan repayment benefits?

I asked this a few weeks ago to my career counselor and her response was that if my re-enlistment has a bonus, that I could then choose between the bonus or SLRP.
FYI, if you go active duty, there is a student loan forgiveness program that you can apply, you would have to make a minimum payment for 10 years (you have to be active duty for this time), and the debt gets forbidden. In my case, I can get forbidden around 85% of my debt. Your payment will be calculated every year based only on basic pay (this is a great advantage). This program is also available for teachers, police officers and other federal employees.
This information was given to me by fedloan, this is a student loan administration company.
