Are you talking about the breach from 2 1/2 years ago or was there another one? Seems pretty far fetched, but it wouldn't surprise me that a certain group of people would think that more people carrying guns will protect against identity theft. ;)

It is the old OPM breach. The bad thing is I heard this from a very credible person and was surprised to see nothing on the WWW. Surprised to get a rumor like this, and be asked for advice on implementation. It is horrible to think people might be working policy on a dud...

In Maryland, the gun control Capital of the East Coast? I seriously doubt it. Maryland doesn't recognize any state right-to-carry reciprocity and it's not a must issue state. I guess you could use the breach as the reason in your notarized statement, but good luck with that.

I doubt it is true. When recruiting offices were attacked we didn't want to allow recruiters to arm themselves even though they are all members of the armed forces and should have competency with a side arm or could easily get it.
