About Hero’s Bridge:

Hero’s Bridge is a 501c3 with the mission to serve, stand by and honor our aging veterans wherever they call home at no expense to them or their families. We do this through our specially curated programs tailored to the needs of the elderly veteran.

Reports To: Chief Executive Officer

Manages: Content Creator and Digital Marketing Strategist

Responsibilities:

● Assists leadership to build, support and grow Hero’s Bridge to achieve the above mission.

● Develop business and corporate relationships and giving at all levels, local, regional and national

● Search for and apply for grants that match the Hero’s Bridge mission and services.

Track and monitor progress towards grant goals and report outcomes to grantors

● Coordinate with Office Manager in tracking and monitoring restricted grant funds

● Oversee strategy to implement digital, crowdfunding and other innovative fundraising techniques. Coordinate with Digital Strategist on social media fundraising strategy.

● Coordinate with local, regional and national entities to advocate for Hero’s Bridge to be the beneficiary of already existing events and drives

● Explore and execute opportunities for government support and grants at the local, county and federal level

● Develop and execute strategy to increase individual donors including recurring monthly supporters

● Recruit vendor and business donors to provide needed services to HB and our veterans. Negotiate signed agreements at donated or reduced rates.

● Manage stewardship to ensure that all donors and stakeholders are properly thanked, valued and are aware of the outcomes of our programs

● Explore and execute on Hero’s Bridge storefront for items that celebrate and honor our aging veterans and simultaneously increase support for our programs

● Attends monthly meetings with other Hero’s Bridge team members to stay informed and fundraising news

● Documents activities, events and news in Hero’s Bridge software application and reads other’s posts to stay informed

● Attend and assist at regular HB events

● Work collaboratively and help provide coverage during absence of other Hero’s Bridge team members

● Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

At least 2 years’ experience in fundraising/resource development
Ability to work with people from various backgrounds, ages, temperaments, and varying levels of interpersonal difficulties
Must be able to pass a background check
Valid Virginia driver’s license and reliable transportation
Excellent written and oral communications skills
Additional Advantageous Attributes:

Experience growing giving relationships of all levels, types and sizes
Knowledge and experience with donor software and stewardship
Passion for veteran care and/or care for the aging population

Travel

This is a position that requires significant daily local travel within the Piedmont region of Virginia. May occasionally require travel outside of the region. This position will be a hybrid work model with a combination of in-office, field work and remote time.

Physical Requirements

This position requires full range of body motion, including physical set-up for outreach events. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to walk and stand for long periods of time; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift to 50 pounds.
