Veterans aren’t the only ones waiting for health care.

Once again - I hate to move into politics, but I thought this article gave a good explanation that the problem isn't the VA, it's our system that isn't prepared for the rapidly aging baby boomer population and a reluctance to move into 21st century health care policy:

Here is a kicker for you, I lost count on how many times either I or one of my Soldiers have called the TMC and was told that there are no appointments to see their PCM. The problem isn't just the VA. I have been telling my Soldiers that they should file an ICE comment ever time a service or system is either not working or not to standard.
When I finally did see my doctor, it was an appointment that was set to time not to find out what the problem is and solve the problem. What is the medical system coming too.

SSG - when I came back I TRIED seriously to make an appointment with psych to sit down just to help reintegrate. I was told 2 weeks - and this is when I was still wandering the halls at 2AM. Our system has some real problems.

I just saw a new broadcast on FOX how several years ago, Pres Obama has order the system to get fixed. Now he was talking about the VA but still, it still isn't fixed. It kind of makes me wander if we need to start talking the civilian version of "relief for cause" on the senior leaders that are causing the problems. or at least not fixing them.
