Those that are SAPPER tabbed, they are the 12B version of Rangers......in a sense. They definitely have more training for the finer calculations of explosives.

When I was in 85-87. Their wasn’t Sappers. Just 12B like me that blew stuff up.
What’s the different between a Sapper and regular 12Bravo ?

Not sure what they do anymore, when I was in, even the construction mos's got demolition and land mine training, now I don't think they are trained on that anymore??

The difference between a 12B, and a Sapper Leader Course graduate 12B, is like having two identical muscle cars but one with a supercharger. They will both get you to where you need to go, but the one with the supercharger will do it a lot more impressively and is a little cooler.

It all really depends on what your units mission is really. I am in a sapper company and we sling demo all the time. But if you are in a 12B heavy company you could be doing route clearance and in vehicles all the time. Sapper tab soldiers have completed a leadership course that helps them lead sapper units better and to teach lower enlisted how to perform their duties better.
At least this is my perspective on this anyway, I could be missing the point of the original post.

SPC Richard Skeen I really enjoy it. Hate sitting in vehicle's and I really enjoy being out in the field.

That’s. Good. Wish they would’ve had it when I was in. 85-87.

Standard answer, It depends. You could be a Sapper and not do nearly as many Demo missions as the line Engineer BN just because that's how the missions were tasked. Also, the opposite could happen. When I was a 12B, I wanted to be a Sapper but it wasn't what the Army wanted.
