Should the Army make an exception for being buried at Arlington National Cemetery?

Most active duty or retired military members of military service are eligible for in-ground interment at Arlington. Members of the reserves or National Guard are not eligible unless they have been on active duty.

Thanks for the links. Arlington eligibility is actually much broader than I thought it was.
Doesn't really apply to me - I want my ashes scattered - but it appears that at age 57 (I will have had 3 years of active time lowering my retired pay receipt age by the time I retire) that I would qualify for below-ground internment. Were I to bite it before then, it seems that I would qualify for above-ground internment, as I would assume being deployed counts as "at least one day of active duty, not for training."

No, Arlington has limited space. There are numerous Veterans cemetaries around the nation, infact each state has at least one. If burial in Arlington is a desire then the requirement should be met, in this case service in the Active Duty component.
