Long before California became a sanctuary state we had micro experiments demonstrating the case for open borders. They were disasters. Individual towns and cities had different policies regarding the homeless as well as illegal aliens. Obviously, they tended to cluster in those places with the most benefits and the least restrictions. Is it really that hard to interpolate that experience to see what would happen in a world of open borders? Who would be foolish enough to gravitate to a failed state? Obviously, those seeking free benefits and lax law enforcement would congregate in those places that could afford to provide the best. Thus, open borders only succeeds in a world in which all nations enjoy equal economic success...
