Does the Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal require a bronze star device?

I've recently learned that for both Afghan and Iraq Campaign Medals, the initial award should immediately be accompanied by a bronze service star. Does this hold true for the IRCM for particiPatron in a single phase? If so, could I get a reference? This is becoming a hot topic for my recently re-deployed unit.

Yes, it does require a campaign star. Every operation has at least one campaign and the amount of stars reflect the amount of campaigns you served through. As of today, we have had Abeyance and Intensification. See below link to PDF document that lists dates for it.

SSG Lepe, does the individual actually get a order stating awarding of the campaign medal or does it just go by TCS orders showing participation in the operation?

Chief,
Our J1 added the ribbon to our ERB after one month of being on ground. But I honestly don't know if that was the right way. My assumption is the TCS orders shows the participation in the operation.

The chart shown above, along with your deployment orders qualifies you for the ribbon and the campaign stars. Your BN S-1 should be on top of this, but many are not. Download the chart and educate your unit and even your S-1 about it.

Can't comment on IRCM, but it seems odd that you would be awarded the Campaign Medal for your service there but immediately add a Service Star. It feels like two awards to me.

I agree completely; however, this practice would fall in line with the most recent campaigns.

It is not odd, immediately adding a campaign star signifies the campaigns you served through. The ribbon is for the operation, the stars signify the campaigns.

You stated the star as a service star. There’s the misunderstanding. The ribbon/medal is to let it be known that you participated in that particular operational theater and the star is to let it be known how many campaigns you participated in that operational theater. So basically, no one can wear the ICM and the ACM without a Campaigne star. Even it you only where there for one.

They couldn't quite grasp the concept of the question. I'm hoping to have answers from some more experienced folks around here. Or someone with some authority.

SFC (Join to see) - As a former BN S-1 NCOIC, this is my standard response to this question:

When I was S-1 NCOIC, anyone whose ERB I saw who had deployments, but no campaign ribbon/campaign stars got put on it during inprocessing.
