If you look back, Israel and Palestine have an extremely turbulent history that has caused devastation on both sides. If you were to ask if they will ever be at peace, based on the past, the answer would be no. Time and time again Israel and Palestine have gone back and forth, leaving a path of destruction and asking for other countries to help pick up the pieces.
At the Gaza Reconstruction Conference in Cairo, $5.4 billion was raised to aid in rebuilding the Gaza strip…again. Interestingly enough, no one from Israel attended. According to the Israeli newspaper, Haaretz, Egyptian officials feared many Arab states would have canceled if they knew an Israeli attended. Want to know how much the U.S. pledged? $400 million by the year’s end.
The U.S. has a long-standing history of giving money to Israel, since WWII more than $121 billion has been given. Since the mid 1990s, the U.S. has given Palestine $5 billion dollars…not including the most recent pledge.
As we give them our money, what is the guarantee that what happened will not happen again next week? Next year? Many countries that participated in the conference pushed for peace talks to continue and for a long-standing peace to take place. There were some concerned that Israel and Palestine’s stand off will not last. They will then be asked again to donate money to rebuild a city that these two combatant countries destroyed.
America and various countries can plea for a lasting peace between Israel and Palestine, but if they do not want to keep it then should we continue to give them money to rebuild their cities? Will Israel and Palestine ever be able to break the cycle?

Short answer...no.
If you believe any of the stories of the Bible or what we know otherwise of the regions history one group has waged war on and took land from another group in that area of the world ever since there were people living there. I don't see it stopping either as long as more than one group exists there...and even then they will most likely faction off and start over killing each other again.

There will never be peace between Israel and Palestine so long as Palestinians cling to Islam, which warns its believers to not trust "people of the cloth" (Christians and Jews) and to use every strategem of war against them. The Palestinians will not be happy until all the Jews are pushed into the sea.

I too have read the Qu'ran. It reads like the ramblings of a guy who heard a little bit about Christianity and Judaism and then tried to regurgitate what he heard into his own religion, albeit he got some of his wires crossed and mixed parts of stories together. For example, in the story of David vs Goliath in the Qu'ran David sends his guys down to the river to drink before facing Goliath and that actually comes from the story about Gideon's Army which didn't even happen in the same generation.
The Islamic account of Creation aslo lacks the depth found in Genesis.
And these are simply two stories that come to mind where the Qu'ran gets things twisted up. In that sense Islam is more or less a rip-off of Judaism and Christianity. I find nothing divinely inspiring when I read the Qu'ran. The light Muslims follow isn't the true Light. It's light is just a reflection of the true Light, just as the moon is a reflection of the Sun's light.
And that's just my opinion, but I invite you to research the story of David vs. Goliath and compare it to the Biblical account WHICH WAS WRITTEN LONG BEFORE THE QU'RAN and you tell me which you think is historically accurate.

With all due respect, I never said that Islam was better than, equal to or the same as Christianity or Judaism. My point simply put is that the Quaran is supposed to be the fundamental text of Islam and that text appeals to the better angels of those in the Islamic faith as the New Testament appeals to the better angels of those following the Christian band. Bottom line analysis is, we will all take from our chosen text what we wish to take from it and no group should ever be labeled by the actions of some who claim that same fame. As far as which version is historically accurate, I am not in any position to judge the history of either, I am however, in a position to read, study, learn and then choose how what is learned will apply to me. Your truth is your truth as well as mine is mine. I shall always respect another's truth but it does not mean I have to agree with it.

There are 109 verses of violence in the Qur'an against Non-Believers. Muhammad himself killed 500 Non-Believers. What has been hijacked is the history of Islam, by people that actually are trying to convince people, with no concept of history, that Islam is a Religion of peace. Islam has never seen a year of peace and that's because Muslims are FOLLOWING the Qur'an. As opposed to Christians not following the New Testament, hence all their violence throughout christian history....which is still far less than Muslim violence.
