I think it is a start. The more military friendly representatives we have the better. I think the younger vets will offer insight that is not presently there.

For whatever reason, I find this vaguely reassuring. Regardless of their politics, I find the fact that they were willing to serve before "public service" a hopeful sign. Maybe "serve" means to them what it means to me.

Then again, I can think of a lot of jerks that served before being elected who remained jerks.... I'm still more fond of veteran jerks.

Me too. At least we can have a common basis from which we can disagree.

SGM (Join to see) I think one of the real problems is that the percentage is decreasing. http://www.moaa.org/Main_Menu/Take_Action/Top_Issues/Serving_in_Uniform/Compensation/Fewer_Vets_on_the_Hill.html

Maybe we can still get the new congress to do something useful, like Arm the "Armed Forces.

Younger Vets Head to Congress--is that enough to make a positive difference?

I don't think it is an age thing, I believe we need more people who actually cares about making America great again. We need the folks in politics to realize that they are working for us, not working to push their own agenda. We must remember that holding office is a public service, I think a vast majority of them have forgotten that.

It has to be , it is better than having no vets at all and that was where we were. We were losing all the veterans. Those are the people that have a true understanding of the world and how it operates. You have politics and the true world. THEY ARE DIFFERENT. When you go to all of these countries like us military do, we do not stay at the Ritz. We see most of the time the hearts of the countries, politicians see only what the other politicians want them to see. If you have served whether officer or enlisted, you have at least a grasp of reality. We hope.

SFC Kendrick...thanks for your vote of confidence. There are times when I would consider it with the right backing; other times I remember I'm a good number one but a great number two. My real skill is making someone else successful.

I've halfway thought about giving it a shot since I'm always complaining about how awful a job they're doing. And every time I think about it, I think about all the unsavoury things I've done as an indiscreet youth, haha. That and the fact that I absolutely abhor political games -- just speak plainly and with frankness. Seems that's just not done.
