No. It is better to fight them there than on the home front. Those throwing their medals away are emotional children having a temper tantrum, IMHO.

Would I join them? No. I do however understand it and support their right to do so. I know for me I feel a bit let down over Iraq. All those months spent there sacrificing time away from my family just to see it degenerate into the current situation. It makes me question why we were even there in the first place and what did we accomplish? I am proud of my service but disappointed in what happened after.

Capt Seid Waddell - I don't think them expressing their objections to government policy is short sighted or stupid. I think it is great that people can criticize their governments in a manner they see fit (as long as no one gets hurt or property is damaged). In a sense they are doing exactly what you have in your last two responses to me albeit in a different manner.

SGT David T., it is both short sighted and stupid to allow a growing threat to grow unmolested when it will certainly be coming to the home front as soon as it is strong enough to do so.
Closing one's eyes to a gathering threat does not make it go away; if it did Obama's policies would have been successful.

I understand anti-war sentiments, and wondering whether getting involved in Syria is a worthy question.
They would have done well to bring up the issues with engaging on the current military operations (comprised of ten Tornados and a couple of support aircraft - woo!) rather than invoke the foibles of previous adventures in Iraq and Libya.
The UK involvement in Syria has far more to do with bilateral relations with France than it does with ISIS.

PO2 Jeffrey Sheibels - If that is what their people want then yes. This isn't a case of a NATO country invoking the alliance. This was a conscious choice their government made. The should bow to the will of their people.

SGT David T. foreign policy decisions are not up for referendum. The duly elected government formed of the people's representatives has made this decision based upon the best information available. If it turns out that the majority is against it, they will have political consequences.

1SG (Join to see) - I get that. However, the elected leaders serve the people. If their constituents are vehemently opposed to something they should listen. After all they do represent the people. This is the cornerstone of self determination. I agree we or in this case they need to elect compasses over weather vanes.
