In our unit, our DFAC closes every other weekend.
So as every other holiday weekends, yet we are still being charged full amount of meal plan every month.
Not only that, there is no shuttle for soldiers to go to another unit's DFAC.

You need to be asking your leadership these questions because that is the best and final authority.

Short answer no. You either get Separate Rations, or you get a meal card.
It's not a college dorm meal plan where you pay for 5 or 7 days a week.
If there truly is no shuttle or bus service at all on your installation, and the next DFAC is an unreasonable distance to walk 3 times a day, and you have no car, bike or friends with a car or bike, you need to address this through your chain of command to the installation.
just a head's up, you might find that the Army has a different concept of "reasonable walking distance".

Looks as if the company should just get whatever passes for a duce and half now days from their motor pool. If they have no motor pool go to post TMP and get a 2 1/2 stake and platform and haul troops to another mess hall. My question would be why the CO allowing the mess hall to close.
