Will picking up my promotable status interfere with my tier 9 bonus?

So I re-enlisted in August of 2018 but I don’t leave for my class date until July of 2019. I was eligible for the promotion board In November my commander wrote me off for a no show memo, which was fine, I accepted I wouldn’t get promoted because I signed for an e-4 position. I joined in feb 2016 and picked up SPC in Oct 2017. But now my battalion is saying I have to go to the board and get my p or I will get flagged before I PCs in 3-4 months. But I’m wondering if picking up my P will interfere with my tier 9 bonus because I’d have to put in a waiver for an e-5 position. Also the boards tomorrow and they just told me I have to pass when I was initially told I just had to show my face

If you have been in just over 3 years, a flag for not passing a board seems a bit overboard, to me. Especially if you are waiting on a school slot. This honestly sounds to me like a misunderstanding or a misinterpretation of guidance from higher.
First stop is your retention NCO. Find out if having a P and/or getting promoted before going to school affects your slot. If it does not, then go to the board and pass it, get your P before going off to school.
If the P or a promotion prevents school, sit down with your first line, explain the situation, and have your first line PUT IT IN WRITING that you are fully eligible for the board, (s)he recommends you for the board, but you are not attending because of your pending school slot.
That counseling is justification for your unit for why you do not attend the board. It is also justification for you if the BN for some reason tries to push a flag.
Flags HAVE to have a legal justification, and CAN be fought through legal channels - make your 1st line give you that counseling to help yourself out.

I just went through this situation at my unit where attaining my P status will cause my reclass school date to be deleted I talked to my sponsor, First Sergeant, and my CSM and they agreed that I don’t need to go through the board just ask your first line to use an open door policy and explain everything

You don't have to pass the board, if you read the newest ALARACT on promotion, you'll see that you have to be barred in order to be prevented from being integrated into the MLI list and becoming automatically promotable.
