I was reading up online that the Army is starting a pilot program in July that would increase the training time of infantry OSUT from fourteen to twenty-two weeks. I’m Ohio ANG and I’m set to ship September 24th. Is that a program I’d get sucked into or one I’d have to opt into? It says 16 weeks in my contract (two of those are Christmas exodus).

Everyone that is part of the pilot program shipped July 2. If your OSUT is to be extended for when you are going you will be notified by your recruiter. They have to verify that you are ok with attending an extended class for that job if not you pick a new job. I wouldn't let having to attend training for a longer period of time stop you from becoming an Infantryman though.

Thanks for the info. I definitely wasn’t gonna change my mind, I’m set on being infantry. It was more or less so I could let family know what was going on.

Honestly, the longer the training, the better you will be when you arrive to your unit. Good Luck to you. O-H-I-O

Don't worry about that. You're going to be fine. Even if you do go through that, there's an additional bonus. You'll be better trained and less likely to die. Look at the up side to these kinds of things.

Well listen up potential private. When you get there take what is given to you and learn. Because one day it could save your life. Remember that as an infantryman you’re in the front, you’re in the shit. And there’s another person on the other side who’s ready to kill you. So your job is to learn and get good at doing ur job. Don’t whine, don’t cry, suck it buttercup. And get hard in mind, body and soul. When I first joined the Army my mentors were Vietnam Veterans and I toke all that they told me and used in my 20 years in service. So take advantage of these Veterans who have served in combat. I may help you one day. Good luck. God speed.
