Good evening, all. So I'm striving hard to make my five before the year is over, but I've run into a bit of a concern. I'm currently on a temporary mental health profile that, for all intents and purposes, I should be cleared of by now. My civilian case worker is giving me a bit of a run around with paperwork but I should be cleared in a few months. I just want to know if my profile will prevent me from going to BLC or getting promoted. Thanks for your time.

In one word, Yes, after multiple deployments, had issue with my temper, that was the beginning of the end.
Because of that I had group therapy 4 days a week, and individual once a week, that was my duty for months. In my group was the post CSM, he was there for the same thing, he went off on one of the clerks. Long story short, they say come and get help, but the next stop is the MED board.
They gave me 70% for PTSD and a 4 for psychological in my profile.
They blame us for the effects of doing our job, and send you packing, this was 2012, hopefully things are different now.
I know I had another deployment in me, but they said the damage it would do was to much. It does not matter your M.O.S the stress for deployment alone is enough to drive you crazy!!!

CSM Tony Blair it is factual once mental health becomes involved, best practices, demand that providers look at very wide scopes because lives within wide scopes are a concern. They do what is in the best I terest if the member and all collaterals known and unknown.

We all know, the damage of battle, I was surprised to learn that until after 911, the military did not offer help to its military. I’ve been in groups with service members from as far back as Korea .Each told me this. Yes there is the unknown when it come to this, but if we ( service members) honor our part ( defend this Republic) they it should keep their end of the bargain, and not hold the backlash against us.

Once you go before the med board, it’s a done deal, went to JAG, they said you could fight it, and spend more time in the WTU, and go home in a year, or go home now.
But I think I was to far gone, hopefully the damage for you is not as bad, and you can continue to serve, but here’s a line from a movie,
“ you don’t have to have a patch on our shoulder to have honor.”

You’ll be able to go but depends on the limitations of your profile.

You can't attend any NCOES school with a temporary profile that I'm aware. Unless something changed since BLC has been virtual the last year.
