I am curious about Osprey from VMM-268 I noticed while on Vacation in Hana, Maui, Hawaii.
He made multiple passes over airport - once gear down ramp open. My holiday snapshots.
I was very surprised by so many rather close low level flybys. Warmest Regards, Sandy :)
p.s. I am just curious - never seen an Osprey - looks like a CH-46 mated with C-2 Greyhound.

Well, I checked, 1LT Sandy Annala, and no one has given the correct answer yet! They were looking for Lindbergh's grave! They just need to continue to follow the Hana Highway (360) as it curves SW past the Seven Sacred Pools. We've been twice and it's a chore to get there. It was worth it, but I don't think I'll make that trek again, unless I'm in an Osprey! Col Joseph Lenertz WO1 Jarred Campbell SGT David A. Your only as old as you feel sir.

Driving the Hana Highway will make you feel old, SGT David A. 'Cowboy' Groth! It's not far (about 50 miles) from Paia to the Seven Sacred Pools (past Hana), and then a few more bumpy miles to Lindbergh's grave. However, the road is treacherous and skirts the coast almost the entire way (up and down and back and forth), and it can take a day to get down there and back. My wife was car sick! They even make T-shirts about making the trip!

LTC Stephen C. - You're absolutely correct. What was I thinking of!
What should be surprising to you is the fact that it was able to get and stay airborne...
1LT Sandy Annala My guess would be routine training - flyers getting hours in. I see various birds fly overhead here in mid-MO all the time: B-2s, C-130s, Blackhawks, etc. With pilots complaining about lack of air hours across the branches, it seems this is the most logical answer. :)
