Why is CIF staffed by civilian personnel? Why aren't LOG soldiers staffing it?

CIF is a nightmare for everyone and dealing with the civilians that work there makes it 10 times as worse. Disrespect and an I control your clearing attitude are the expected norm. I think it's time for a long overdue change.

I realize this is a general comment and is not true for all but I have noticed over my military career that often times when civilian DOD or other civilians in authority can they enjoy giving soldiers a hard time or poor customer service!

SSG Robert Burns At Ft Benning, I had to explain multiple times and show this new CIF person at the counter that she marked the incorrect knee pad sets and had them mixed up. She simply couldn't figure it out and proceeded to have me go to the next window three times. I told her I will not leave the window until she fixed her mistakes. About 10 minutes later, I was finally able to get a more seasoned CIF worker and when I explained to him, he finally straightened out my CIF turn-in sheets. Did tell him that a new worker needs to have someone who can observe them so that these mistakes can be corrected in a timely manner. The new CIF worker seemed irritated that she was wrong and just kept saying that she was too new and didn't know what she was doing at times. Her reply and attitude were proof to the others that she needed to either watch and learn or have someone work with her. I started thinking how many other Soldiers she messed up on their CIF records once I was done.

This is so true. I had a bad time at Fort Benning. I know I am new officer but I am not a PVT. To be honest no one should be treated like that. There were some good people there but I equate them to a den of thugs. They strong arm you and complain about everything that they give. God forbid if you didn't spray paint your E-Tool within the last 3 hours of turning it in. We have soldiers that are trained to do this and understand the system better than the civilians that mostly have never served. Civilians don't have rank. They should respect all of those in the military that they have the pleasure to serve. But then that is the Army Civilian Corps.

CPT (Join to see) My E-Tool had a small area that they said needed a quick touch up. I had them get me three other E-Tools to show them how I received mine the same way. Sure enough, those three needed more paint than my E-Tool.
