Simple mathematical equation. .....101 is always greater that and never equal to 82 :) have an air assault day my friends

Hah!
In my days (1976 to 1984) the 82nd did the exact same thing the 101 did on a regular basis. That being said we would parachute in on your helicopter airfields, destroy them, establish a foothold and follow up with more parachute drops with our own air assault helo's! Transport and attack. It would be a magnificent battle! Of course with the 82nd prevailing.

Just saying..... ; ]

Is this a real question?
Of course it is the 82nd who would win. The 82nd is the parent of the 101st, and therefore has the advantage.
And for those of you wolfing "air assault", you are lacking in understanding that assault by helicopter is only one aspect of the arts of vertical envelopment, and that the 82nd is also a practitioner of that particular art.
And for those of you claiming "If you want it done, call the 101st", excuse me but the 82nd is the one on the speed dial of the White House in case of emergencies. What other division has a mission to strategically deploy in 18 hours or less?

SSG (Join to see) - The strategic advantage lies with the 82nd, who can be anywhere in the world via parachute on moments notice. Rotary winged A/C does not have the range that fix wing A/C have. Hands down, 82nd is the tougher, better unit.

Well not a DIV but 173rd has an 18 hour readiness. Almost got called up for real world missions twice.

SSG (Join to see) - The 82nd always has a battalion or more on 18 hours alert.

From my experience with both these groups; 82nd since 101st is too scared to jump and too lazy to walk. Lol

I beg to differ on part of that statement. I believe anyone that has been associated with the Infantry Side of the 101st will tell you that all we seemed to do was hump a ruck and live in the field all the time.
