Of course, the 7th Cavalry has its' place in history, but everyone knows about that!

I was with the 772 MP Co, 211th MP BN which organized in March 1638 in the Massachusetts Militia as the Cohannet Train Band.

The 126th Aviation Regt (Faith Flight Fidelity) was originally organized and Federally recognized in February 1922 in the Massachusetts National Guard at Framingham as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 181st Infantry.

That's one of the things I miss about the MA Guard is all the history and the sense of pride that comes with it. I've tried doing some digging for the 131st Aviation and the 111th Aviation, but I haven't come up with much at the history.army.mil site unless I'm just not looking hard enough.

MSG (Join to see) - It applies to all MOSs, as per Para 21-24, DA PAM 670-1. You just have to have some sort of PCS orders on file assigning you to that particular unit. Soldiers in MOSs/specialties that have a common RDI have the option of wearing either their MOS RDI, or the DUI of current/previous unit(s). This ONLY applies to the RDI position on the Service Uniform, above the right breast pocket.

Remember, the Distinctive Unit Insignia, also known as unit crests, the ones on our ASU shoulders and berets, are based solely on the unit of assignment. The Regimental Distinctive Insignia is based on MOS/Specialty, for those MOS/Specialties that have one. The regulations allows for Soldiers to substitute their native RDI(if applicable) with the DUI of their current or former units. So you can't wear the MP RDI, but you can wear the DUI of that MP Company

I just got my 313th MI Bn DUI in the mail, and will be replacing my MI RDI from here on out.

SFC (Join to see) - One of the main reasons why I ask is that there is a Soldier on RP that is a Combat Engineer but assigned to an AG unit and wears the AG RDI on his chest instead of the Engineer Crest.

MSG (Join to see) - I see. He should either be wearing the Engineer RDI (Essayons), or the DUI of his current/past units. He can't wear the AG RDI, by regulation.
