Col Nuanes, I can't speak to Dallas, but around here, DAV is by far the best at getting claims done. The American Legion office at the VAMC moves more people than we do, but we are much more effective.

If you're dealing with very complex combat injuries from OIF/OEF, Wounded Warrior Project can't be beat...

Full disclosure, I was a DAV service officer for a number of years... If you need help with your claim, please feel free to contact me offline...

I'm a member of both the American Legion and the VFW.
I find the "vibe" in the VFW to be a bit different than AL.
More 1,000 yd stares in the VFW.

I suggest you look into the ones where you live and pick the one when you can be the best asset. And, you are not limited to one.

I spend time with the fellas from the VFW, and also invite the veterans organizations to our redeployment ceremonies as well as our unit functions.

Gotta be comfortable with them and you do that by developing a relationship with them.
