For a new Soldier with a family, I suggest you stay on post. You don't have excuse to be late or go home for lunch or emergencies - most of the time. Plus, everything is accessible in case there is a lock down or something.

Just not holtzman real estate because their gonna bleed all of your security deposit when u move out even if nothing was damaged

I recommend living off base. While stationed there I lived in ravenwood (between 2 gates). Many many soldiers in my unit had atrocious experiences with belfoir Beatty (the on post housing contractors).

I am an early riser and would hit the gym before pt so I didn’t typically deal with any gate traffic, I never had issues getting back and forth on lunch. There is really only one road that leads out of housing and I’ve heard it’s just as bad as gate traffic, they open community gates so soldiers can drive off post from housing to use gates
