Where do spouses go after service member reclasses and goes to AIT?

When considering your options, keep in mind that 12D MOS training has an enormous attrition rate. Only like 10-20% actually complete the entire course and most fail out within the first two weeks.

You need to call the transportation section on your base. Your husband can call the AIT in Fl and ask how long the program is. You can’t plan without orders but you can find out if it is a PCS to Fl. Even if it is a PCS you have other options to consider. They can temp store your HHG instead of moving everything twice. Anyway, contact transportation.

Your Household Good will go to where his orders say for his assignment (not the AIT). If there is no assignment listed, it will go in storage until he receive assignment orders before he completes AIT. If the school is 180 days or longer, it’s considered a PCS move and the family is authorized at the AIT location. If the school is less than 180 days, the family isn’t authorized at the AIT location so it would be two of you decision on where you’ll remain upon completion of school, which is why they may have told you they don’t know. My spouse stayed with family when I went to school enroute. Unfortunately if you’re not authorized at the TDY location, no additional entitlement will be provided other than the BAH and Separate Rations he’s receiving. He won’t be entitled to COLA or OHA anymore once he departs Germany.
When coming from overseas, service members receive in-transient BAH which is somewhere between $750-$950 (I can’t remember the exact).
Have you spouse to talk with his leadership and with Personnel Division so they can assist. I hope this provides some clarity for you. Good luck to you....
