Where can a 31D get stationed?

Most bases have CID stationed there but the base with the most agents is Fort Belvoir.

I retired in 1994 and at that time, often the CID unit who recruited the “probie” (probationary) agent but this was not always the case. A lot of it is determined on where you may fit into a repositioning (OCONUS to CONUS or CONUS to OCONUS). When I entered at Fort Monroe, VA in 1977, I had just transferred from Korea back to the states 7 months earlier. I then went to Fort Leonard Wood until 3/1981, when I was transferred to Germany. If you have an option, go somewhere large like Bragg, Hood or Carson. You want a diversity of cases for your probationary year so you can master being an investigator. Someplace small or without combat troops, will not fully develop your investigative skills. If case loads have not changed over 23+ years (name me something that hasn’t), you will learn to multi-task or life as an agent will be unforgiving. In bygone day’s, the command had the three Ts (timeliness, thoroughness and timely reporting) over each agent. I still use those standards as an insurance fraud investigator since my retirement.
