I am in a medical reserve unit. My platoon leader told me I made the list to become a duty appointed retention NCO if I am interested. I just hit SPC and have never even heard if this position, but it obviously has to do with retention. Should I accept? What all would I be doing? I am assuming mostly paperwork.

I was voluntold to be the Company Retention NCO for a year or so; my duties were to assist the CO and Battalion Retention NCO with re-enlistment matters. I had to keep track of who all was in their re-enlistment window; advise them on their options, and try to convince them to re-up.

Most difficult part for me was the paperwork (I'm not a paperwork person) and that you had an FM... but the details changed daily based on needs of the Army.

It sounds almost like the platoon leader is pulling your leg.

He put himself in as a yes and told another female and I that we made the list.
