Having spent 13 consecutive years stationed in Germany, it's safe to say that I absolutley loved it there. I learned to speak German, met a lot of good German people, deployed three times to Iraq from there, and served in every position from the newest private on a maintenance team to an Infantry company 1SG.

What was you favorite assignment and a brief synopsis of the time spent there?

My favorite assignment was when I was a junior enlisted Infantryman at A Co, 3d US INF (TOG) at Ft. McNair, D.C.  The camaraderie was above and beyond what I have ever experienced anywhere else.  We worked hard, but we also partied pretty hard too!  A lot of the guys that worked in that unit still keep in regular contact, and I would say I had some of the best times of my career there!  As a member of the Honor Guard, we conducted funerals in Arlington National Cemetery, we did high-profile ceremonial missions, and in A Co, we even did colonial reenactments.  I was one of the few people who got to fire a musket as one of their assigned weapons in the Army today!

Augsburg, Germany. Was stationed there from '96 to '98 when it closed down. Would love to get back to Germany some day, but since I switched services to the Navy, it's highly unlikely.
