I went to OCS, SSG (Join to see), and I’ve never regretted my decision.

It depends on what your other goals are. If your only concern is commissioning, and you already have a bachelor’s, go to OCS. If you need a bachelor’s, knock out the degree and commissioning through ROTC.

I’m almost done with green to gold on a Master’s degree. You could do ROTC during a Master’s and commission that way.

It really just depends on what allows you to complete your goals.

I thought about this a little further and I think when you make your decision you should think about this as well. When you make decisions in general, you need to think about the decisions that create the most upside. When you lift weights in the gym you can isolate specific muscles, or do compound exercise to hit major groups. The point I'm making, is that you should make the decisions that accomplish the most goals simultaneously.

I don't know you, but I can tell you when I decided to go ROTC v. submitting an OCS package, I thought about education, long-term career goals, my wife, and how I would be able to balance everything all at once.

Bottom line, ROTC was a better way for me to earn a commission, improve my civilian career, have a chance to shadow Officers before commissioning, and was comparatively easier on my wife/family than going away for extended training.

If you want a detailed account of what ROTC is like in comparison to OCS I can tell you how they compare offline.

Plan B - WO. Was asked to go to USNA as Sgt, but was not mature enough and not really my goal besides, so I passed.

CWO4 Michael Doyle - That LDO cut hurt. They chopped Engrs. I called it an opportunity. Wasn't going to get any slot for 4 due to bottleneck when up next, and I don't mark time for long.
