I have had some great battle buddies. The connection between you and them is what makes you and them better. In basic training I had a battle buddy who was there when I needed him after my initial failure on the run we trained together and both passed I helped his sit up event while he help my run. I also saw my battle have a significant activating event final test for basic I rip my knee down to the bone long story short he freaked when I lifted my blood soaked BDE pants to see the mouth on my knee but he called the drill sergeant and we squared me away got sewn up and graduated on time.
Now I have a battle or teaching partner who is like a brother we started the Resilience program together and have grown to rely on each other. Connection

That is one dimension of the military I missed out on...only had a few "acquaintances" but never Battle Buddies. As for being a civilian now...if I get a "wave" from a passing neighbor, I'm going great. Oh well.
