Recently I have been becoming more involved with the Future Soldier Training Program in my area. I have seen many phases of training. I was just curious if the Army should implemement a strict program for mentorship/leadership/training classes for these future soldiers. I have come up with a few sections of my own and would love to see this program go into affect.

I would love to add those however will the ever changing turn around rate for ship dates certain aspects of training obviously get pushed aside. Basic soldier skills and tasks get covered for example : DNC, soldier creed, small group tactics/communication etc. Instead of shipping them right out the door I think certain training should be addressed first to help them prepare for Basic Training and eventually their MOS specifics.

Make the Training as Realistic as possible, boots on ground, actual team leadership training, squad and section. This was the primary purpose of PLDC, back in the day. I've heard they changed the name. But, PLDC, gave you squad and section level leadership training, and had to perform in a field environment. I always felt, the training was good, but should have been longer to help re-enforce good leadership qualities. PLDC back in the day, was 30 days, 45 might be better. Teach More combat tactics, and leadership roles.

Sorry but I think the CPLs and SGTs need to train more on small unit tactics. Like Team evals, then Squad Evals with their PLs giving mission like OPORDs to the SQD LDR then them in-turn giving a mission brief to their TLs. \
