Many of us have one thing that really gets to us. I have to say that probably my biggest pet peeve (as it pertains to the military) are ill fitted ACU tops. I constantly find myself explaining to people how their uniform should fit.

What is your pet peeve?

There are enough regulations and policies to enforce, please don't feel compelled to enforce your pet peeves.

It's not a one-sided, single scope type of thing. Enforce all equally. I was just asking the question and giving my opinion CSM Mike Maynard . I do appreciate your feedback, though, CSM.

Hair. I can't stand it when someone's hair is out of regulations. That's the first thing I notice when I see them.

SSG Christopher Adame , there is a significant difference between regulation/policy and pet peeves.

Pet peeves are personal/individual preferences that are not based on regulation/policy or could be local policies that are additions to regulations that are limited to a small population/echelon.

The issue is that regulations are standard across the Army and can be more easily obeyed/enforced because most Soldiers are aware of the common standard, Pet Peeves are not, therefore they are not a standard.

Rgr CSM Mike Maynard , if we must get into the weeds with regards to the meaning of my question, I would say that it bothers me that a standard/ regulation, is so easily disregarded due to people's preferences.

The ideal of such blatant disregard for such a simple matter, is more directly related to a peeve.

I believe in following standards and enforcing them fully. Please don't mistake my comments as a bias. Becasue, I, CSM, strive to be both fair and impartial in all matters. Whether I like the situation or not.

I know it might not be against the AFI but when I was stationed at Sheppard AFB, the AITs would get done with class run up to their rooms grab a pair of shorts throw them on and run out still wearing their tan shirt and knee high green socks! Come on take a few seconds and get all the way out of uniform before you leave your room.

My greatest " Irk" would have to be seeing Uniform Covers of any kind sticking halfway out of a cargo pocket.

For enlisted or flag officers even that have on base jobs to have wrinkles all over there uniform. Working in the ceremonial detail, I'm held to the same uniform standards as a CG company commander (which is strict to say the least) and for me to put hours into my uniform mantinence and to see officers with bad uniforms. It's just sad.

Acu's look like garbage so really the hands in pockets argument is old hat you have pockets there for a reason when it's cold outside use them if you wanna look professional and are so concerned about it then BDU's are where we should have stayed

Ehh, I agree that ACUs aren't the best design, but you might want to look at AR 670-1 before you tell people that pockets are "there for a reason..."

As far as professional, the Army pays me to wear what the Army issues me, so take your concerns to COS Ordinero. Maybe you can get us back in BDUs, SGT.

i wish i could influence The folks that make that decision but they are paid by companies to make the "best choice" for us we all know how horrid ACU's are and what they dont blend in with. aside from that Hands in pockets just dont bother me. Two things that bother me would be Laces out on the boots and before they fixed it the damn Velcro pockets.

Of all the Army Regs, that's the one I'm always fighting my self not to do. And in close second is eye glasses on the head.

Pockets not squarely closed and patches crooked. It doesn't take much time at all to get yourself squared away properly. And it grinds me up to see brass with a jacked up uniform.

Agree it's against AR 670-1 so for me it wasn't a "peeve" it was a violation.

My biggest peeve was hanging strings. I was forever burning them off the people standing around me in formation. OCD? You bet, but I never failed an inspection!

Aside from the obvious (pockets...which I may or may not be guilty myself from time to time...sorry!), My biggest pet peeve is rank patches being crooked.

There is absolutely NO REASON for that! It's velcro! Take the 5 seconds it takes to set it on straight! If you can't do it properly, ask a battle buddy to assist you. If you notice somebody with a crooked rank, tactfully approach the subject and help them fix themselves. Please and thank you.
