Many of us have one thing that really gets to us. I have to say that probably my biggest pet peeve (as it pertains to the military) are ill fitted ACU tops. I constantly find myself explaining to people how their uniform should fit.

I am with you on hands in the pocket but if it's cold my hands go in my pocket. Sorry to say. I am in Alaska and it gets cold. When you go to the cold weather leaders course they tell you to put your hands in your pocket. Because it's cold. But other than that I don't like to see hands in the pocket.

My biggest pet peeve about the uniform is being in full uniform minus pants. Sometimes I can get halfway through accountability before someone notices.

One that bugs me to no end is the green cords that cinch up the cargo pockets. I often see them hanging out at least 6 inches long.
Another is curled up name tapes, my God sew it on or iron them out!

One of the ones that I am not a fan of is when people wear their caps like they are part of a hip-hop gang, where it is slanted to the side or back. another one is the uniform on top and bottom not matching. I admit that I fall under this sometimes since I stuff the uniform in the bag and don't see it until it is too late!

Have you tried matching them, and then numbering the set, sir?

I do the same thing with my uniforms. I can't stand to have a uniform where the shades of the top and pants don't match.

SSGs, both of you are geniuses! I never had that issue before, as I always (attempted) to somehow keep them together, but separated from each other. However, recently, I came into possession of about 14 pair from a departing XO who wore my size, and since I was in the process of moving, well, they all got mixed up. I ended up staying up all night after the move with everything out on the floor matching and numbering!

I cant stand the "poorly fitted" uniform. If you are a big fat f*** then buy a uniform that is made for big fat f***s. I had an instructor a few years back that while wearing his NWUs (that is the silly blue camo) he looked like a pregnant blueberry.

PO1 Jeff Doan There are many Big Fat F***s who are technically within standards. A fat neck allows for a ridiculously large stomach.

My biggest issue was always Irish pennants and crooked name tags. People who have no pride in the uniform or their appearance always irl the shit out of me.

Buttons that are not done up. Whether it is in a shirt, cargo pockets, pants pockets. An empty button hole looks awful. It draws the eye. Also, a buttoned up shirt pocket with something in it that changes the lay of the shirt. You might as well have the damn thing unbuttoned or your pen tucked behind your ear. Seeing that pocket bulge pisses me off more than it should.

SSG Christopher Adame, I was taught early in my career that the only time you could have a hand in your pocket was when instructing a class. Then it was only one hand and just to the top knuckle. That being said my biggest pet peeve was/is a clean uniform at the beginning of the day no matter what your job title.

Backpacks. Everyone ignores this part of 670-1. Drives me nuts.

Un-shined boots! It's such a simple task, for goodness' sake. Blackening them can't be so difficult. Not to mention, it's a such a small task than can make a such a huge impression on sight. Why slack?
