I was just forced to PCS from Fort Stewart to Fort Bliss, I'm still on my first contract. Will I have to wait 36 months until I am able to PCS even though I was forced to come here? I was only going to re enlist to go to an Airborne unit but if that's not possible I'm just going to do my time and get out.

I always tell younger soldiers, call branch. If you wait for branch to make choices for you, they will be happy to fulfill the needs of the Army first. If you want to go airborne you do an airborne packet, graduate basic airborne course, and you will be surprised how fast you get orders to an airborne unit. When does your window open? Start by talking to your career advisor, or retention NCO.

You joined the Army and are now upset that they sent you where they need you?

1. Your question is too vague- How long did you enlist for. 2. If you didn't enlist for a specific base, then you go where they send you. 3. Maybe your MOS was over strength at Stewart but under strength at Bliss. 4. Normally unless in a shortage/critical MOS you use to be able to re-enlist 6 moths prior to your ETS. Bottom line- why in blue blazes don't you go to your BN/BDE re-enlistment NCO and talk to them?

I enlisted for 3 years 16 weeks SGM, my re enlistment window isn't open until February, I'm just trying to get as much knowledge on what effect the forced PCS has on my ability to PCS before I talk to retention so I can negotiate from a position of knowledge
