Currently a 12M in the reserves, thinking about going 11B in the CO National Guard.
-Do I have to go OSUT?
-How long does it take to re-class?
-Is it possible to re-enlist from reserves to guard?
-Is it easy or difficult to get schools? Mountain warfare, Air Assault, Ranger Etc.
-Any advice?
Thanks in advance.

SGT (Join to see) Send me a message I am current 11 bravo in the COARNG. I just reenlisted after six years I can probably answer a lot of your questions.

I believe you have to go through the second half of OSUT but you are given special consideration. An E5 reclassified in my cycle and had his own room and access to his POV and such. Getting schools is tricky if your in a line unit because everyone wants slots so you might want to consider getting one guaranteed in your contract if possible. I can say guys who reclass get a lot of respect from current infantryman. Leaving a “cushy” job to come suck with the grunts will earn you the trust of even a tight knit unit. Best of luck!

We had a couple of reclass guys show up around week 7 or 8. One was an NCO, the other wasn't, but both were given a measure of respect from the Drill Sergeants; the NCO even got his own room too. Needless to say, the rest of us stuck to those guys like glue.

Without a break in service you shouldn't have to OSUT.
Depending on the TRADOC requirements it could be multiple two week phases to reclass.
You will probably have to ETS from the USAR and enlist in the ARNG the following day.
My advice is get with the ARNG recruiter, if you still have an obligation left you may have to get a conditional release from the USAR to finish your contract with the ARNG.
