What is the process for a medical retirement?

I know that one needs to be evaluated from a med board with at least 30 percent, but must this 30 percent be related to one only medical condition or to overall soldier s medical status?

If you are rated at 30% disabled, period, upon review by the board you receive medical retirement. Now, that being said, it could be temporary or permanent; that status depends on the ailments and their respective severities.
