A Reddit post drew attention to the cover photo of a Washington Post story, which shows front-and-center an Army private standing with his hands in his pockets.

Through a very "Army" set of circumstances I inherited the duties of reconstruction manager for that site. I wasn't there there until after the attack but it was odd seeing stuff in person that I'd seen on the news days before and working with people that are in the photos that are still all over the news.
Any regulation that has the words "at the Commander's discretion."

Oh boy so many. But definitely hands in pockets. Not only is it pointless but it seems counter productive.
If it’s cold out and your pockets can provide some sort of warmth, it seems like putting your hands in your pockets would improve readiness
