are army benefits valuable reason enough for two soldiers to get married? How long can this type of marriages last? Is this a dangerous lure for young soldiers who want to make it quickly?

Eighteen months, in my observation is how long one of these goes. PCS time = divorce time.
Soldiers that do this are committing fraud, plain and simple. It is a very expensive lesson to learn.

1LT (Join to see) this is a very dangerous lure. I know many of us have hear or seen Soldiers getting married before deployment to get the extra BAH and separation pay. Some do it just for the money and others do it figuring why not get the money now and do an official ceremony when they return. Unfortunately, I have not seen any successful quick marriages before deployment, nothing but heartache. There is the temptation. As far as if they are valuable to get married that depends on each individual. What would you do for extra money or if you were not in the military and needed health insurance?

Necessity can seem to justify greed or the rush to a quick solution for quick cash. But everything falls in place in time for the patient hard worker.

Maybe because we live in very high speed society where the motto for many is "do it now or die trying". Contentment indeed is a hard way to find nowadays. I wonder what those who lived 50 or 60 would have said.

I can tell you that such arrangements can be considered fraudulent marriages and may result in UCMJ action and potential government recoupment of benefits. I don't know the specifics, but this should be considered and researched.

I mean many young soldiers in situation of puppy love find themselves often considering to tie a knot for the benefits. In regards to UCMJ, it is very hard to prove the fraudulence in most of this case. Because he will take one of the partner to reveal the masquerade. It doesn't belong to the finance office to investigate who receives military benefits.
