Mother's Day is always a sensitive time of the year for me. The only woman in my life I believe that TRULY loved me was my grandmother, Mel Viola Scott! My foster mother abandoned me when I turned 18 &I believe my biological mother didn't want to have me. I can't remember when was the last time she told me she loved me. I still PRAY for both of them. How important has your mom been in your life?

SPC Andrew Griffin Brother, I am sorry for your familial trials. I had some myself. Take comfort in the fact that you have a larger family in the Services. I can't speak of any of the women in your life. But I can speak for myself -- you are my brother. My family. You gave years of your life for me and mine. I am not a religious man. You are. That's fine. It's also irrelevant to me. I know that if my ship was sinking and you were in the area with a boat, you'd go out of your way to pick me up. And if you were in a firefight, and I somehow was there, I'd do my level best for you. That's a bond you share with thousands, tens of thousands of us. So reflect upon your trials and tribulations with your biological family, as you should, but always remember that you have another family.
