So Im looking to reclass to 12p after doing research into its educational and future civilian benefits job wise. Currently deployed and my window opens next month. Mostly Im looking to figure out the duty stations for 12p, deployment rates, tdy frequency, and general quality of life. Im a single father and am looking to set up a good career and have a good amount of time raising my boy. Thank you.

I'm not sure if you have pulled the trigger on this decision or not, but I'm a former Prime Power Soldier. I will tell you there are definite benefits to reclassing to 12P. However, with those benefits come a downside. If you decide to go Prime Power, you will have the opportunity for a great paying career. The down side is that you will have the potential for a high Op-Tempo while you are Prime Power. My Op-Tempo was around 70% over three years. When I exited AD I did land a job as an HV Electrician with the Department of the Interior. I was making $100k+ per year as a civilian. Look up my contact information and feel free to contact me if you have questions.

Im a highschool student and i've been looking at this MOS for sometime. What are your opinions on this mos? Should I join as a Reserve.

Did you receive any Certs? How should I go about this career?

What is the requirement re-classing to this MOS?
I'm going to school for 12P in August. From what I've researched myself. the 3 Primary Duty stations are Belvoir, Bragg, and Schofield Brcks, HI. Others include Hood, Bliss, Leonard Wood, Korea and other OCONUS places harder to get. The link below is to their site, scroll down and expand "Assignment Opportunities" Deployment seems to be minimal but TDY is often depending on Event occurrences such as Natural disasters pending the location. Again this all just from other forums from others' experiences within the past 3 years or so that I have found. I've read one saying he'd been in the MOS for 9 months and had been TDY 3 times already, but I'm unsure of the length of each time. I've yet to read any negative reviews of the job and if you enjoy actually working with the equipment everyday this is the right job from what I've seen which attracted me along it being in the SMAPP
