And yeah, both of Dan Carlin's shows are great. For people starting on Common Sense I would start with the earliest available episode. I really liked this one, it puts a lot of perspective on current riots and tensions in cities. And on surveillance of American Citizens.
I like to laugh. I like to listen to other people vent. It's a release, and these folks make it fun.
Serious "news" makes me angry, but comedians, satirists, etc help cut the edges off, and I'm able to take the tidbits of news they present and dive into the stories and conduct my own research from there.
What I like about the Carolla show is that he has a variety of guests. It's a non-traditional "radio" show, and he's had everyone from Ted Cruz to Walter O'Brien on.

Penn's Sunday School is just him talking about a variety of topics. It takes place every Sunday (hence the name). If you're familiar with Penn Jillette, he's an outspoken Libertarian, but I listen to it more because he's funny, and he presents some great view points and he's not self aggrandizing.
