Does your unit sit around a circle and train by powerpoint or do you go out and train to experience? Do you focus on one small portion of your unit's possible mission and train the same METL over and over? Do you expand your horizons and train a new METL once trained on one METL? Do you train with other units or other branches to enhance your mission and understand other methods?

DISCLAIMER: I hate power points.

However, I think there is a time and place for classroom type training.

I think the key to training in my unit is finding the balance between effective field training and classroom instruction.

But, if was possible and up to me, I'd prefer to be in the field doing all things Soldierly all the time.

Sir, does your unit take time to do classroom training for common systems such as DTS? DTS can get complicated depending on the type and duration of TDY. If the Soldier is not trained they may be late on a voucher or past due on their GTCC.
