Penn is the quintessential Hollywood leftist. He protests the wars we fight (Iraq). He supports leftists around the world (Chavez) and he is anit-gun. He wants to make his living using guns, playing veterans and looking like a real hard charger. He is a douchebag of the highest order.

Having said all of that, he is a very good actor. Over the years he has made some really good movies, movies I have enjoyed. I tried to seperate his acting from his politics for many years but I can no longer do so. I don't lose sleep over it but I will not spend money on someone, who if he had the chance, would confiscate my arms, put me under a ruler like Chavez and shred our Constitution. That is who he is and that is what he would so if he had the chance.

There was a movie called "Tigerland". This was bassed on a true story that people going to Viet Nam would go through Tigerland for jungle training before deploying. Colin Farrell played in Tigerland, but, they went through it for real.

Snotty-boy Penn, with his ilk, need to be ran through something like Tigerland to see if he has the muster to withstand what we went through and what Colin Farrell went through. I had the movie on VHS and I do not know if it can be had on DVD. What people need to do is hammer Hollywood about their anti-gun views and force them to make movies with butterfly nets.

Sean Penn is more than a "typical hollywood leftist" He is a admitted marxist of one sort or another, and has sung Communist Hugo Chavez's praises while calling George Washington a "loser". I have no tolerance for Marxists of any stripe decrying our "gun culture" while glamorizing guns on film. I likewise have little tolerance for those who choose Marxism over our Freedoms of press, association, markets, and religion. So, while making his millions here in the US, with the freedoms listed above, he praises the leaders of countries in which his successes could not have been possible, and worse, he praises them as they oppress their own people, and takes them down the by-now well worn path of economic destruction that is inherent in centrally controlled markets that do not reward productiveness, innovation, and efficiency. Hypocrites of the worst kind, who celebrate the destruction of a country and it's people, while demonizing and criticizing the country and it's freedoms that made their successes possible. I don't pay to see Jane Fonda, Sean Penn, and a number of others, as their work, good or not, is jaded in my eyes, and lacks enjoyment.

He is, of course welcome to his delusional opinions, we don't have to support him though if we choose not to.

They get paid to play make-believe. Sometimes they're good at it, sometimes not.

Exactly. It's ACTING. It's not that any of us really believe that he is a veteran or a hero in real life....

After watching the movie last night, the role is one Sean Penn would have relished in: a broken vet doing morally questionable things for big corporations. I do have to say that his personal trainers did a great job thought. Penn was RIPPED in that movie.
