I dont want to see our kids not get time off for Christmas break out of school or else a lot of families won't be able to get together and why should we have to change the word Christmas what if we said they had to change the word Islamic Holidays to kneeling holidays would that be right no. If they want to tall their Islamic Holidays let them. But allow us to keep ours the same or else I will start a thing where what they call their religion offends me and they need to change it. That is just wrong,Do your thing I do mine and we will get along better.

My feeling is that many people have passed away and are dying for a freedom that seems to be getting taken away from us. Why did so many fight for these freedoms just to let them be taken away and we are told what and how things must be done for our families. I will not change to the Islamic ways and I will still celebrate Christmas and say Christmas always it is my right too do so. Are we Islamics or Americans now days? Will people move to another place or stand up and be Americans. Because running from will not do any good it will eventually take over. I'm a Christian woman and will worship my way and so will my grandchildren.

to me it sounded like they were saying you can't practice the Christian way of celebrating Christmas but hey can do the Islamic ways. But my Christianity is one thing that I stand strong on. Its ok for others to practice Islamic ways but to take our Christian ways out of the school and say Islamic is ok. That is not fair to us. My grandchildren have gone to their own thinking and talk openly with me and ask questions. That is like anyone just because you may get an answer does not mean a person will go by that answer. But my grandchildren have handicaps too and we do our best with them. My daughter actually has a boyfriend who is Native American so they place tabbaco down on the things they plant in the gardens and my daughter prays and tells God this is their offering unto him and please bless their garden to grow. But they still believe in one God as number #1 and respect each others ways. Just as we must do. Do not try to force a change to take one out but allow another. Leave it alone but say. We are adding a new policy to add Islamic religions to be practiced in our school. Dont word it we are taking this away but allowing that.

Im sorry PO3 Ben Sackenheim. I don't mind them celebrating the way they want too for their religion that is their right and you are right on that. But what I read was they are taking Christmas out of the school that is taking away our Christian right in the first amendment. Each person has the right to their own religion but they should not take away another persons ways especially when Christmas has been in school systems for decades. And I should not say all 9 of my grandchildren will as they get older but so far mostly all of them do. It is worked at from birth to teach them about God but it is also taught it is their right to do it how they choose and the look up to me and love me very much and can't wait to join grandma in our music , or Christian ways Christmas being one. And my grandchildren even say grandma you don't have to buy us anything. You can write us a poem or make us something and they treasure the homemade stuff so very much. So even if they do go another way I still love them and will pray for them. But do find it unfair to take Christmas time away or to try to tell people they have to say happy holidays instead of Merry Christmas. parts of our freedom as well as a Muslims. If they have another way to celebrate ok cool. But please don't try to change ours that is not right.

This has been going on for many years before the Islamic community has a presence on the national scene. There is no organized effort by the Islamic community to change the name of Christmas, but there will always be extremists who will. But, it would be like saying all white people want blacks and Hispanics to leave America because the KKK says it. The Islamic community is no more homogenized than the Christian community. I am a strict Constitutionalist and it says that religion should be separate from government. Unfortunately, that would mean removing the name of Christmas and Passover from school materials unless all religions desired by the community are included. But, nothing should be done unless requested by parents. That being said, I was raised a Christian and am now an Atheist and still say, "Merry Christmas". If they say "Happy Chanuka", I will respond in the same.
Your last sentence says it all. "Do your own thing and I will do mine and we will get along better." I might change it to "Do your own thing at home...".
