Hello,

I am looking at reserve units in my area and I really would like the 25B. My recruiter and I looked and could not find any open spots, not any in my state. I have my heart set on 25B, but there is an open 25U that's extremely close. I am studying coding in my free time and computers are what I want my career to be in. I was hoping to get a 25B position so I could obtain certifications. I wanted to know what certifications that the 25U would obtain. I have researched and can't find any. I don't want to spend my off time studying the certifications that a 25B would get in the classroom. I wanted to spend that time learning to code. Is there any advice that you all could give me?

Background*
Brother was deployed to Afghanistan and my other brother is also in the military as well as my father. I have a strong desire to be a part of the military. I have a bachelors degree. I want to make sure that I don't make a hasty decision.

Do you all think I should wait and hope that a spot will open close to me?

All your input is greatly appreciated.

I am a 25U the training program will not grant you any certifications. Nor will 25B. 35T grants you security + as well as 17C i believe along with others. But as far as 25U you will not receive any technical certification from training. However you can go to class and take the tests.

Might be a little late to the party here, but no 25 series get certifications. What you SHOULD get to help you out in getting positions is A+, NET+ and SEC+.

Are you now or were you previously in the military?
