Volunteering in your community could also lead to awards which will get you places towards points

That's not completely true. Volunteering is volunteering. The MOVSM requires volunteer service throughout a sustained duration of time. That could include online mentoring via something goodprospects.goodwill.com, MWR assistance, or cleaning operations.

Corresponding courses. Try to max out on those. Honor Guard maybe if your unit has one.

Have you sent your JST to your college to get an updated official transcript from your college to your S1?

Depending on your college, you may also be able to submit Certificates of Completion or technical certificates for credit hours as well.

That was a really general response ma'am. Besides maxing her pt and weapons scores. She can not control what awards she receives nor what schools she is sent to. Also in 2011 the army changed the promotion point system. She needs to focus on the things she can control such as correspondence courses and civilian schooling, or college courses.
