I think we are moving in the right direction. Investing on education is always a good move for the Soldiers, the organization and the Army.

I don't like it at all. Every time the Army says they need the best leaders they are kicking out the soldier that are actual leaders and not the ones that can memorize the damn study guide that shouldn't even gotten to the promotion board. I know an SGT that got promoted and she doesn't even know how to to counselings and take care of her soldiers. Boards doesn't determine a leader at all.

This will be one more gigantic cluster. The online portions are a joke. The Army has overhauled the NCOES several times, each time with the stated goal of ensuring only the best and brightest get promoted, meanwhile most of the best and the brightest are exiting the main gate after one hitch. When the system only cares how a soldier looks on paper, it wont be any stronger than the paper its printed on. I find it humorous that there is so little training on ethics or morals. Just watch and there will be a whole new round of NCOES improvements and uniform changes when we get the next SMA.

What are your thoughts on the Non-Commissioned Officers overhaul?

While I will say this is a good start and a heading into the right direction; I would like to see more opportunities afforded to NCO's like officers. Such as chances to attend graduate level education at Harvard and programs like that.

Thank you MSG Billy Herrington for your input. I agree that it is finally a start of an overdue initiative.

what sounds good doesnt always work out, for example who is doing the overhaul ? just because someone has rank it doesnt automatically qualify them ,in fact if its a political hand grenade a lot of your good people will think twice before taking it on,and why does an organization thats been around for 3 centuries give or take need an overhaul ?

The one thing that all long standing government and private organizations throughout world history all have in common is change.I think some are good and others not so but we can follow the system and do our part to ensure retention of good soldiers and leaders. We just need to take the steps and not give up.
