Can anyone give me an idea of what the 17E MOs does? The answers I have found are vague. What are their roles, stateside and deployed? What is their work week like? TIA.

The vagueness of what you are finding is for safety and security reasons. If you tell people what you are doing in a specific act, you tell potential enemies as well. Thus, you fail in your duties.

Specifics of an MOS, specifically those that hold a security clearance, are not, nor should they be, discussed in an open forum. No, not even through private messages, DMs, etc.

I don’t need any kind of sensitive information, wondering simple stuff like if they sit behind a computer all day or are in the field?

Michelle Rogers - I'll tell you this: it is a mixture. Before the 17E (or 29E) MOS, it used be ASI 1J, or 1K (which are still trained for those who hold other MOS positions). https://usacac.army.mil/cac2/cew/FA29.asp

Even that information, although UNCLASS, would fall under FOUO, which you will find out that you won't be given specifics of that either. There are certain MOS that you will know for sure that they will spend the majority of the time in the field, e.g. 11B, 13A; however, MOS that are very generic, e.g. 17E, 35F, you won't ever be too sure until you're in.
