Entered a VA trucking program that only gave me 4 days on the road with a trainer. Are there any better trucking programs out there? The VA had approved this one...

This is common in the truck industry. When I drove for Ryder, I went out with another driver for 1 day. The companies want to get you started by yourself as fast as possible.

Every company is different. My buddy has been with TMC and his new company that I can't think of the name right now. He went out for two weeks with TMC and one week with his new job.

Yeah it's strange. I was looking at TMC for flatbed training. The VA says OJT is supposed to be 90 days at 50 per cent instruction I believe. Now when I did my truck driving VA paid me BAH. VA still has not paid me for the school. My school only charged me a partial amount luckily.

I would avoid TMC. If you're not with the Boat Division, John Deere or a special account you don't make any money. At least they gave you a discount on the school. The VA is very slow with making payments or paying.

I'm a driver trainer for a concrete company (Cemex). Our training program is 4 to 6 weeks including classroom time and driving with a trainer. Then a 30, 60, and 90 day review before a driver is considered fully qualified.
