Way back during the Vietnam days … I use to volunteer for duty so the one’s with family close could spend their time together. Just a small WWJD…

Invite as many people from the barracks as will fit in your house. Always turns out good.

It is such an honor to receive soldiers to our home for the holiday dinner and festivities. I regret now moving to far away from a military post for any of my brothers and sisters to participate with us.

Our Sgt Maj rousted the 20 or so of us out of the Rack at 0600 on Christmas Eve and ordered us into our PT gear. 2 minutes later we were assembled and ready to go PT with the Sgt Maj. He told us that today was a race to see who could get down the stairs to his car and offload everything into our Great Room. We took off like a shot and the car had a keg, all sorts of food, and a card that said that if were got caught with this stuff we had better forget where it came from. Great times.

Dealing With The Same Subject, But Not A Holiday Thing,
We Had A First Shirt In South, Korea; Osan AFB, Who Was a POW in WW2 & Also A Survivor Of The Baton Death March.
BUT He Was A Real Gem Of a 1st Shirt & Person.
There Was A Time When He Decided To Take Some R&R To Seoul For A Few Days And Called Us In To Remind Us Of His Absence Along With Our Duties& Responsibilities During His Absence:
The Speech Went Somewhat Like The Following.
"Airmen, As You Know, I'll Be In Seoul For A Few Days And, In My Absence,
Do NOT Look In My Office For 5 Kegs Of Beer, Nor In My Storage Room For Snacks Which Go WITH That Beer,.
When I Return, I Do NOT Want To Find My Office Cluttered With Those Snacks Or Those Beer Kegs. Do You UNDERSTAND Airmen?"
"YES SIR, SARGE"
