There are several ways that you can volunteer. There is: coaching sports, reading to bed ridden seniors, transporting veterans to medical appointments, talking at local schools about your military experiences, participating on local community boards and groups, helping with the domestic abuse hot line, plus many others. You just have to look and ask around within your community.

Sign up for the Presidential Volunteer Service online. It's a good way to track your volunteer hours, and you can get a signed letter from the President thanking you for helping the community. When you put in for your Volunteer Service Medal, it's impossible for them to deny you the award with that kind of paperwork backing you up.
I donate blood at the local blood bank. Every time I donate, it potentially saves 3 lives.
I also volunteer with my job at UPS in various activities. I was a balloon holder in a parade, I passed out water cups at a marathon, I helped set up and coach a pop warner football camp for kids that te Arizona Cardinals sponsored, and much more. I try to volunteer at least 1 weekend a month, but sometimes life gets hectic!

Once I'm done with command time, I want to start volunteering somewhere. Right now I'm so occupied with the cycle schedule and any time off will mean less time from my family. Hopefully my next job will be a set schedule that allows for an hour or two to volunteer. It's making a difference in lives of others that is a reward worth it to me. I will look into your PVS online to see what is out there. Thanks for posting CW3 (Join to see)
